Blackberries

The Rhubarb is back!

Now that is it finally Spring-y out, the gardening season has taken off. All of the plants are sprouting, and the older plants are getting their leaves back. We are preparing the garden (which is quite messy right now), for the sprouts that we are growing to be planted, which should happen in the next few weeks, (I think). The blackberries are starting to get their leaves, and the horseradish has survived its transplant quite nicely, and the lilies of the valley are going to be transplanted later. The peas that we planted in the raised bed are also starting to sprout, with maybe one or two dozen heads starting to poke out of the dirt. We will probably be panting corn soon, which I am hoping will take up a good eighth of our yard. I am also looking forward to when the rhubarb is ripe, so I can make rhubarb crumble and other delicious and sugary deserts with it ( I wonder if it would be good with ice cream, Like apple crumble). We will be building more raised beds soon, for when we transplant the sprouts that we have inside.

Back in the saddle again

It's been about a week since my last post, but it has been a fantastic week for gardening. We have not gotten around to making the other raised beds yet (biannual cold), but we can probably do those sometime this week or next week. The sprouts have gone straight up (the nasturtiums by at least three inches, the radicchio and cabbage by about two inches, and everything else by about an inch), and they are still growing rapidly every day. The Aloe Vera plant looks like it could burst any second at about seven to nine inches tall. Our fig tree was covered in leaves and fabric for the winter to keep it from freezing over, while we kept the other one inside for the winter. In the end, the fig trees emerged victorious. We have moved the indoor fig tree outdoors, and they are both growing very quickly and figgily.*

*Figgily is probably a word.**

Day Seven:Tomato

The first of the tomatoes sprouted today. It's been one week since we planted them. I can't wait to put them in my belly!

The plants have finally started sprouting after a couple days. The only things that haven't quite sprouted yet  are the tomatoes, which we are expecting to see in a few days. We haven't gotten around to making any more raised beds yet because of the unexpected snowstorm a few days ago, but I think we can start digging today. My hopes for this garden are almost as hopeful as I am about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!

Day Four of Gardening: The Plants are Sprouting!

The kale, cabbage, and radicchio have all started to sprout a little bit. The cabbage, (pictured below, has the largest sprouts, but the radicchio has the most sprouts of the three plants.

I am looking greatly forward to eating the finished product, which should be delicious, because I was involved greatly in the process, and everything I do is perfect.

Hello world! This is my first day of blogging (and of gardening this spring). These are all various plants that we have in our basement until they grow bigger and can go into the garden. We have big plans this year for many other vegetables and sprouts, but so far all we've planted is some tomatoes, radicchio, cabbage, and kale. I am hoping to grow a crap-ton of corn this year (for meal and for corn- on-the-cob). (Mic-drop)
